Smoothie 101

If you know me I ALWAYS start my day with tons of liquids! I typically have tea and/or a juice to break my fast followed by a smoothie! Not to mention a gallon of water a day. šŸ’¦ In the @bunsinbalance's gut check course, I learned a lot about how important it is to make sure you have the right portion of macronutrients in each meal to keep your blood sugar leveled throughout the day. Aka avoiding that midday slump, late night snacking, sugar dragon, the list goes on. Right as I was learning about ways to regulate blood sugar, I stumbled across @bewellbykelly's #Fab4smoothie philosophy (thanks @yogaxkate!! I miss u ā¤ļø) Essentially having the right amount of šŸ¦“ protein šŸ„‘ šŸ„„ fat šŸ’© fiber and šŸ„¬ greens balances hunger hormones in your body while stabilizing blood sugar levels. HOW COOL & SCIENCEY!? With intermittent fasting and lowering the amount of fructose in my smoothies by focusing on the fab 4 philosophy, not only is my stress eating basically non-existent but my energy levels are steady and my stomach is waaaaaaay happier!! Another hot tip courtesy of @bunsinbalance - although a smoothie is easier to breakdown in our bodies bc it's basically "chewed", our brain isn't signaled to release salvia/ stomach acid to help us digest it once it's in our stomach. AKA why you may feel bloated or gassy after having a smoothie. When drinking a smoothie try
- having warm lemon water before hand!
- make it a smoothie bowl & eat with a spoon!
- add healthy fats on top to force you to chew to activate your salvia glands!
- slow tf down!! Having the smoothie sit in your mouth for a hot sec will help produce salvia and enzymes needed to help break it down!

AVO-MATCHA ACAI SMOOTHIE

  • 1/4 avocado

  • 1 pack frozen acai from

  • 1/2 cup of cauliflower rice

  • 1 tsp matcha

  • 1 tbsp flax seeds

  • 1 tbsp Pure Synergy Superfood powder

  • 2 scoops collagen

  • 1 serving of Gainful protein

  • 1 cup coconut water with aloe

  • Topped with cinnamon, cashew butter, & granola
